Ariel Lanyi is a young musician living in Jerusalem. He is a student at the Conservatory and the High School of the Jerusalem Academy of Music.
Ariel has multiple musical interests. His main instrument is the piano, but he also studies the violin, composition, and conducting. Ariel has a wide repertoire in classical music, ranging from music of the early baroque to the 20th century. In jazz, Ariel plays everything from bebop and Latin to free jazz. Ariel is a member of the Kadima Collective, an Israeli group of avant-garde musicians.
Ariel has played solo recitals around the world, and had lots of bar dates performing jazz standards and some of his own compositions. He has performed all over Israel, as well as in the US, France, Ireland, the UK, and Italy. Check out some of the videos on this site from his performances in Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv, Paris, Belfast, and other places.
In May 2012 the Irish label LYTE Records is releasing Ariel’s classical debut album, “Romantic Profiles.” The disc features piano works by composers of the Romantic period: Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, and Janaáček.
